Conducting a Walk

A Walk is a site inspection. You walk through a location, capture findings as you go using photos and descriptions, then end the walk to trigger AI analysis.

Starting a Walk

From the homepage, tap Start a Walk. You’ll go through two steps before the walk begins.

Step 1: Choose your site

If you’ve walked a site before, select it from the list. If it’s your first time, tap Add a new Site and enter the site name and postcode.

Sites are shared across your team — once a site is created, anyone on your team can select it for future walks.

Step 2: Add context (optional)

Before starting, you can add a note about your walk using voice or text. For example: “I’m inspecting equipment for maintenance in a hotel kitchen.”

This context helps Maslo give you better analysis later. You can skip this step if you prefer.

Tap Start Walk when you’re ready.

Capturing findings

Each finding is captured in two sequential steps: first a photo, then a description. A photo is required for every finding.

Step 1: Take photos

Once your walk is active, you’ll see a camera viewfinder with a shutter button at the bottom of the screen. Tap the shutter button to take a photo. Keep the issue centred in frame.

A thumbnail appears in the top-left corner each time a photo is saved. You can take multiple photos for the same finding — scroll through the carousel of thumbnails at the top to review them. Tap a thumbnail to view the photo full screen, where you can download or delete it.

When you’re done taking photos, tap Next in the bottom-right corner to move on.

Step 2: Add a description

Describe where you are and what you found. Use the input at the bottom of the screen to add your description via either voice or text.

Discarding a finding

In either the photo capture or description step, tap the Discard button in the top-right corner to abandon the finding and start again.

Saving a finding

When you’re done, save your finding. You’ll return to the camera viewfinder to begin capturing your next finding.

Ending your Walk

When you’re finished capturing findings, tap the Done button in the bottom-left corner of the screen. From here you can either pause or end your walk.

What happens next

After ending your walk, you’ll see a summary of what you captured. Tap Go to My Walks to continue.

Your walk will appear in the My Walks list with a Processing status. This usually takes a few minutes. Once processing is complete, the status changes to Complete and you can view the full analysis.

Paused walks

If you navigate away from an active walk or close the app, your walk is paused — not lost. Return to the app and your walk will be waiting for you.

Paused walks display an expiry time. If a walk remains paused beyond the expiry window, it will be ended automatically.
